Terms of service

Last updated 11 October 2026

These terms govern use of FileSDLTonline, provided by Truetax Systems Limited. By creating an account you agree to them on behalf of your firm.

The service

FileSDLTonline helps firms prepare, calculate, validate and file Stamp Duty Land Tax returns with HMRC. It covers land in England and Northern Ireland only. We do not take or remit tax payments.

Your responsibilities

  • Your firm and its clients are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of every return submitted. Calculations and validation help you but don't replace professional judgement.
  • You must hold a valid Stamp Taxes Online enrolment and keep your credentials and user accounts secure.
  • You must have the authority of the purchaser to file, and hold their approval of the declaration.
  • You must not submit test data to HMRC's live service, or live client data to HMRC's test services.

Fees

Fees are set out on the pricing page and exclude VAT. Only returns accepted by HMRC on the live service are billable. Contract bundles are billed monthly, renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time, effective at the end of the current period.

Availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. HMRC's systems are outside our control; HMRC outages may delay submissions or responses.

Liability

We are not liable for penalties, interest or losses arising from inaccurate information you enter, late filing or late payment, or the unavailability of HMRC's services. Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid in that period. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Data

Our privacy policy and data processing agreement explain how we handle data. You can export your data at any time before closing your account.

Changes and law

We may update these terms and will give notice of material changes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
